Sirhowy Hill Woodlands

How we started...

From spoil tip to fruit orchards…

Once an Ancient Woodland, thriving with a wealth of fauna and flora and home to a vast ecosystem of wildlife, the luscious green woodlands became the dumping ground during and after the industrial revolution for spoil and slag from the iron and steelworks, pits and quarries. In later years, Sirhowy became a domestic refuse tip.

With the determination of the surrounding local communities, we are reclaiming that once despoiled landscape.
