From spoil tip to fruit orchards…
Once an Ancient Woodland, thriving with a wealth of fauna and flora and home to a vast ecosystem of wildlife, the luscious green woodlands became the dumping ground during and after the industrial revolution for spoil and slag from the iron and steelworks, pits and quarries. In later years, Sirhowy became a domestic refuse tip.
With the determination of the surrounding local communities, we are reclaiming that once despoiled landscape.
This is the story of Sirhowy Hill Woodlands…
Safeguard the future of woodland wildlife is paramount to us. £3.00 a month will help us to protect & restore local habitats for the benefit of the growing number of endangered and vulnerable species on our site.
