Alyson, Susy and Lloyd were joined by our 2 new volunteers Jasmin and Craig on Saturday 18th July; to start getting the nut grove in to some sort of shape after the disruption to work there and in the woodlands caused by Covid.
We all put our backs in to it and managed to weed and mulch 8 of them between us in the two and a half hours we were there, and they are starting to look as though someone cares!
The difficult weather conditions they have endured since their original planting in March 2019 (see below), followed by an extreme drought, a wet winter, a hot dry spring, and a late frost that hit their new green growth hard – it’s amazing that most of them have survived! We will be doing some more next Saturday social distancing, of course, weather permitting. If you fancy a go, email Susy on info@sirhowyhillwoodlands.co.uk. There are another 20 trees to do!!!
We have lots of other things going on as well. Please message or email Susy if you have availability and are interested in volunteering with us at info@sirhowyhillwoodlands.co.uk.
